March 2008

WORSHIPFUL MASTER

HARMONY LODGE #9 F&AM

2007 - 2008

On Jan 29th and 30th, Harmony Lodge # 9 initiated 11 new Entered Apprentices and they are already under the care and tutelage of our Junior Deacon, Bro. Bill McColl. Congratulations to Brothers Matthew Szewczk, Ralph Barlow, David DiCecco, David Falco, Josh Martins, Stephen Lutrario, Robert Burgess, James Joyce, and Douglas Putnam, for being initiated to the degree of Entered Apprentice, Harmony Lodge’s Class of 2008! The Class of 2008 has some excellent men that I foresee contributing much to our beloved Lodge, so when you see them, make them feel welcome. Talking with these men inspires me greatly for the Craft we all care for so. Three more potential new candidates have already expressed an interest, so if you know a good man, talk to him about the Craft and get him an application. A second class for 2008 is a distinct possibility!

Our Fellowcraft Game Dinner will be March 2nd. Come on down and join the fun. It always amazes me what a good time we have together even when there’s work to be done.  The Fellowcraft Club will be meeting on the 3rd Wednesday in March at 7:30pm at the Doric Masonic center. This is your place to enjoy the brotherhood in a casual manner and to get to know each other on a more personal basis.

It is hoped as many brothers as possible make that extra effort to attend our March 4th regular communication to receive our District Deputy, the R.W. Brother Wyman P. Hallstrom III. Chip works hard for us. A full sideline would show how much we appreciate him. A very special program is being prepared for his visit. Come on down and join the fun.

Also in March, on March 24th, at 7:30 pm, Harmony Lodge will have a Special Communication for the purpose of conferring the Fellowcraft degree on the class of 2008. This will be the night for our Senior Deacon, Bro. Bob Kempf, to show his mastery of the Middle Chamber. For those of you who don’t know Bob, I am confident that he will shine! There may be better ritualists than Bro. Kempf, but, as Pappa Bear says, “it’s a darn short list!” I hope each of you take the time to come see this work that is so fundamental to our craft and a wonderful challenge to Harmony’s officers as they advance toward the East.

Our Special Ladies Visitation Program has begun. If I haven’t already called you to join in, feel free to call me to volunteer. You might as well; I’ll get to you sooner or later.

It is my hope that each and every brother feels he is at home at Harmony, no matter where his Masonic journey began. Your officers’ line works diligently towards that end, but we need your help too. We’re good but we’re human. If we miss you, hold out your hand and introduce yourself to us. A brother who goes that little extra will always be warmly received and valued at Harmony. When you think of it, that’s what the fraternity is all about; going that little extra and getting back so very much.

As much as I would love to see everyone in lodge, it isn’t realistic for everyone, I know (the fire marshal would have kittens!). If you have a concern or just want to talk, call me at 401-919-8459. I would enjoy hearing from you.

Fraternally & Sincerely,

Steve
