WORSHIPFUL MASTER

HARMONY LODGE #9 F&AM

2007 - 2008

My Brothers,

I had an elder member of our Lodge say to me, “Now that you have so many young guys, you don’t need me.” My response to him was,”Why do you think they joined? They didn’t join because of our building. They joined to take part in the fellowship with like-minded men such as you. Our world is so lacking in friendship, morality and brotherly love that we stand as a beacon in the dark. These young men seek to be with you, and those like you.” I mention this conversation because I see less and less of our senior brothers, as of late. I know many have contributed to their lodge in the past and it is easy to let someone else carry the burden for a change. That being said, my brothers, I am telling you your lodge needs you now! We need you to serve as a light in the dark, as a beacon for those desiring the blessings that our fraternity bestows may see that such gifts originate with the giving of oneself.

There are 513 of us! I have been at nearly every lodge function/meeting since January 1999. Yet there are at least 100 lodge members I have never met. Please understand, my life has been so enriched by those who have offered me their hand, I cannot help but believe the rest of our Lodge has just as much to offer. Harmony has a strong core of men who give of their time so generously. Yet even they need your help. I know of one brother who can only help at the game dinner, his schedule limits him otherwise, but he’s been at every game dinner since I joined and his contribution is exemplary! I’ve come to know him and feel his love of the craft through his contribution. He gives what he can of his time and his lodge is better for it and so is he. Why so many do not do as he does is beyond me. We do so much; pick one thing that you’d like to contribute your time to…get off your duff and GIVE of yourself, just one event. You’ll be amazed how very much you receive. For those who feel they’ve given their share, we’re not keeping score; raise the bar for all to see. I repeat, my Brothers, Your Lodge needs YOU!

Brother Stephen Harnois has started a chess club the second Tuesday of every month at the Doric Masonic Center at 7:00pm. All are welcome. Brother Matt Szewczk has started a Dungeons & Dragons adventure the second Sunday of each month from 12-4pm. All are welcome to attend, Masons and guests. Light refreshments will be provided for both events. These men are adding to the fellowship, each in their own fashion.

We are also bowling the third Mon of every month at the Cranston AMF on Elmwood Ave. at 6pm. First game is $5, each game after just a quarter! Shoes extra, Dutch treat. Bring family and friends.

Fellowcraft Club continues to meet the 3rd Wed. of every month. Our attendance raffle is over $200 but if you don’t attend, you can’t win.

If all of this still doesn’t appeal to you, call me and tell me what you’d like to see in your lodge. Be prepared to do more than complain.

Fraternally & Sincerely,

Steve
