November 2009
James I. Ogilvie
WORSHIPFUL MASTER
HARMONY LODGE #9 F&AM
2008 - 2009
My Brothers,
I have to say it is so hard to believe that it has been a year since you elected me to serve as Master of Harmony Lodge. It truly has been a pleasure and privilege to serve you all in this capacity and have the honor of being Master of Harmony.
I remember a few Past Masters telling me that the year will blow by and before you know it you are “Old what’s his name”. I have to tell you brothers, this is so true a statement. It does feel like it just started and now it is coming to the end and I look back at a year that has changed my life for the better.
I want to thank everyone who has supported me, and our lodge at all of our events and meetings. We have tried some new things, kept our tried and true functions, and hopefully started some new traditions. I have been told by many that Harmony Lodge is one of the busiest lodges in the state and I truly believe our success as a Lodge is directly related to the variety of activities that we have. In being willing to try new things and getting away from only doing the status quo we succeed.
I have to thank my officers who have served our lodge this year. They have worked tirelessly for the lodge in all aspects. I can tell you that they have represented your lodge with the utmost dignity, and decorum in our travels in the district to other lodges, at the Grand Masters visitations and in our travels abroad. To my officers, I can not thank you enough for your support this year. You have been there for me when I needed it the most. The helping hand, supportive shoulder, or just a listening ear, have meant so much to me and I thank you. You are all men I am proud to have served with, and to be able to call you all brothers. Having you as the future of Harmony makes it that much easier for me to step down from the east with confidence in the future!
To Jesse Edwards, our Senior Warden; you have been not only my Senior Warden, and a brother mason, but you are my family. I have known you since I was a child and you have always had a profound influence in my life as I grew up. Knowing that you are going to succeed me on November 17th and become the next Master of Harmony Lodge is something that gives me extreme pleasure. I know that you will do an excellent job as Master. This upcoming year as Master will change your life as it has mine and that you will truly enjoy it. Just remember, like I have been told, it is over before you know it, and you too, will look back and say, where did the year go. Please, never hesitate to call me if you have a question or just need to talk, and remember, if you are ever lost about something just remember one thing…..”THE”
Brothers, in closing, THANK YOU!!! This year has changed my life and I will always be proud to be able to say that I was a Master of Harmony Lodge.
Fraternally & Sincerely,
James
